How To Title YouTube Videos

When making YouTube videos and wanting to grow your platform, it’s important to know how to title your videos to your advantage. The title of a video is one of the very first things the viewer will notice and is what they are searching for. We sat down with Bob Baker, St. Louis-based music marketing expert, educator, musician, artist, comedian, author, and YouTuber. Over the past 14 years, Bob has grown his YouTube channel, Bob Baker Affirmations, to 148,000 subscribers and over 16million total views. Bob shared with us tips and tricks on titling your YouTube videos to reach a bigger audience and grow your channel.

Use Keywords

Your title is where you explain to your audience what exactly your video is about and why they should watch it. It’s all about grabbing their attention and wanting them to click to learn more.

Come Up With Your Title First

Coming up with your title before you even film your video allows you to create the video that lives up to your title. That way, you’ve already done the search and keyword work at the very beginning and your content can be related/surrounded to specifically that.

Use YouTube and Google Search Bars to Your Advantage

This is a great and important trick to growing your audience using your title. You can use both the YouTube dropdown search bar or Google related searches to see what exactly people are searching for. Therefore, your video is more likely to show up when people are searching for those key topics and terms.
