GROUP PERCUSSION
PERCUSSION & PIANO EXPLORERS, AGES 4-8
This energetic group class is perfect for young musicians who have an interest in drums and keys! Children explore the world of music through hands-on percussion play, learning to keep a steady beat, read simple rhythms, and play together as an ensemble using drums, shakers, rhythm sticks, and more. Students will also gain skills with drum sticks on practice pad and snare as well as on xylophone, providing a great introduction for those interested in lessons on drums.
Piano activities from Alfred’s Group Piano Course Book 1 introduce basic keyboard skills and musical concepts in a playful, supportive setting. We will tie our percussion learning directly into our piano work. With a focus on creativity, collaboration, and listening, this class builds a strong rhythmic foundation while encouraging confidence and musical expression.
GROUP UKULELE
LITTLE STRUMMERS: UKULELE FOR FUTURE GUITARISTS, Ages 4-7
This fun and interactive small class introduces young musicians to the baritone ukulele—a perfect first step toward guitar. Because it’s tuned the same as the top four strings of a guitar, children learn real guitar skills in a smaller, easier-to-handle format.
Using Alfred’s Kid’s Guitar Course, students will:
Build hand strength, coordination, and finger independence
Learn to read music and follow along with a structured method book
Develop rhythm skills through strumming, clapping, and movement
Gain confidence playing in a group and making music with peers
Prepare to transition smoothly to guitar when ready
Through games, songs, and creative activities, children will discover the joy of making music while setting a strong foundation for future guitar playing. No experience necessary as this class is perfect for beginners.
