Bo Canfield is a pianist, composer, and educator who is dedicated to helping students connect with music creatively and confidently. As a double major in Music and Psychological and Brain Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, Bo brings an interdisciplinary approach to teaching that blends musical artistry with an understanding of how people learn. His background spans jazz and contemporary styles, having performed with many jazz and popular music ensembles as the principal pianist, and he has performed regularly at masses, funerals, weddings, and community events. Bo also has experience in composition, film scoring, and professional performance, having scored two short films as an affiliate of Washington University’s Film and Media Studies Department. He also has a strong foundation in musical theater, having served as music director for several theatrical productions. In addition to his performance and creative work, he has extensive experience working with neurodivergent populations and strives to make music education inclusive, adaptable, and empowering for every student. In his free time, Bo enjoys rock climbing, walking his dog Cassie, and songwriting— he is currently producing his debut album. At Shock City School of Music, Bo emphasizes musicianship, curiosity, and self-expression—guiding each student to develop their own musical voice.
